Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney in Washington, DC. The role focuses on defending complex class actions, cyber/privacy cases, and other high‑stakes litigation in state and federal courts.

The position offers substantial responsibility and the chance to advance within a large national firm. Ideal candidates have a JD and 5–15+ years of commercial litigation experience, with strong motions, discovery, and e‑discovery skills.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the applicable state bar.
• 5–15+ years of commercial litigation experience in state and federal courts.
• Experience managing all phases of litigation, including discovery and e‑discovery.
• Strong motion practice experience with dismissals and summary judgments.
• Proficiency in legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw.
• Excellent research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and other filings.
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery, oversee e‑discovery, and take/defend depositions.
• Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and mediations.
• Collaborate with clients, experts, and internal teams to develop case strategy.
• Efficiently manage multiple matters and meet deadlines while delivering excellent client service.
