Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Transition of Care Doula in New Jersey. This hybrid role combines traditional doula support with essential care coordination to help birthing people have a safe, empowering experience.

Responsibilities include continuous support through labor and postpartum, advocacy, and collaboration with the care team, with travel across Neptune and Hackensack locations. Requires active doula certification and 24/7 availability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1+ year of active Doula experience in last 3 years.
• Travel availability across service area and 24/7 in-person support.
• Knowledge of social needs and their impact on maternal outcomes.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Culturally competent, patient-centered support with empathy.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support prenatally, during labor, and postpartum.
• Advocate for patient choices and coordinate with the clinical care team.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and staff to ensure personalized care.
• Support active labor with physical techniques and hydration/nourishment guidance.
• Provide patient-centered education on postpartum recovery and newborn care.
