Job summary

Target is seeking an Associate Buyer to join our Merchandising team in Minnesota. You will execute advertising plans, plan assortments, and coordinate promotions to maximize sales and profitability. The role requires collaboration with product design, sourcing, and vendors to align with market needs.

You will analyze market trends, input item descriptions, update markdowns, and generate weekly/monthly category metrics. A four-year degree and merchandising experience are preferred.

• A four-year degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong financial, strategic and planning skills.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with strong analytical, decision-making, and organization skills.
• A performance-driven individual who demonstrates strong initiative and has superior leadership skills.
• Flexibility and resiliency; comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing.
• 1+ years merchandising experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute advertising plans and strategies for your category via item selection, space allocation planning, pricing, ad volume forecasting and productivity analysis.
• Watch market trends, evaluate competitors, plan assortments and coordinate end-to-end promotional activities.
• Assist Buyers with system input of item descriptions and markdown updates and generate category reports.
• Support product development and budgeting plans in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate with vendors to maximize sales and profit and align items/assortments with market needs.
