Job summary

You will iterate on prompts, perform analysis, collaborate across groups, and contribute to RAG and model fine-tuning efforts, working in an agile environment to innovate in generative AI applications.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation.
• 3-year check for felony convictions; 1 year check for illegal drug use; 1 year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 0–3 years of professional software development experience or relevant academic project work.
• 1+ year hands-on experience with Large Language Models (e.g., OpenAI GPT series, Llama, Gemini).
• Experience with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques (few-shot, chain-of-thought, structured outputs, function calling).
• Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with onsite requirements in Ashburn, VA.

Responsibilities

• Prompt Design & Optimization: Develop, refine, and iterate prompts for generative AI models to elicit desired behaviors and outputs.
• Iterative Testing & Analysis: Conduct tests comparing prompt variations and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaboration: Work with multiple groups to integrate prompts and streamline processes.
• Research & Development: Stay updated on advancements in LLMs and AI prompt techniques.
• Fine-tuning & RAG Support: Provide input on model fine-tuning and Retrieval Augmented Generation.
• Problem Solving: Debug unexpected model behaviors and identify root causes.
