Job summary

BARNES & NOBLE EDUCATION, INC. seeks an Accounting Operations Analyst to support daily and month-end reconciliations across credit card, PayPal, gift card, web and digital sales streams at our Florham Park, NJ headquarters.

This hybrid role requires three days in the office each week and collaboration across finance teams to ensure accurate financial recording and timely reporting. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 2–3 years’ experience, advanced Excel, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in accounting operations or related field preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
• Experience with financial/operational systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Sales Audit, Helix OMS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile daily payment activity and settlements.
• Perform bank-to-book reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Prepare month-end journal entries and supporting schedules.
• Support merchant onboarding and verify setup across systems.
• Reconcile daily gift card activity and prepare related entries.
• Verify daily web sales accuracy and reconcile between systems.
• Prepare and distribute recurring reports and respond to inquiries.
• Participate in testing and documentation for process improvements.
