Job summary

National Interstate Insurance Company, part of Great American Insurance Group, is seeking an Accountant II to join our Richfield, OH team on a hybrid schedule with on-site presence four days a week and one remote day. You will prepare and review GAAP financial statements, maintain GLs, and support audits.

We value strong analytical and communication skills and a CPA track or progress. Prior insurance accounting experience is preferred; wage details vary by location and role within the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Safety Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting/finance experience; insurance accounting preferred.
• Completion of or continuing progress toward a CPA designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy of financial records.
• Prepares journal entries and performs month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Coordinates moderately complex accounting matters with other departments, locations, divisions, and external customers.
• Supports internal and external audits, ensuring documentation is available.
• Performs financial analysis to support management decisions and identify trends and variances.
