What You’ll Do

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, taking orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and assisting them with their needs throughout the store


• Review orders for the day and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand by developing or following a production list


• Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary and pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking


• Review the status and appearance of food for freshness and maintain quality standards throughout the shift


• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed


• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change as applicable


• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times


• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary


• Order product and supplies and price product for customers as needed


• Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking customer orders


• Follow Hy‑Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines


• Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up

Reporting Relationships

Accountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home; Hy‑Chi Department Manager; Assistant Hy‑Chi Department Manager; Service Managers

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent experience Up to six months of similar or related experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeed.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas


• Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation


• Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment


• Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards


• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This is a fast‑moving role with significant pressure to meet demands throughout your shift. You'll work in the Hy‑Chi department and can expect regular exposure to flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes, as well as occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.
