Job summary

MasTec Power Delivery seeks a knowledgeable and proactive Field Safety Specialist to support a major HVDC transmission construction project in San Jose, California. You will provide daily field safety leadership, ensure Cal/OSHA Title 8 compliance, and oversee safety performance across multiple subcontractors.

The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic field environments, communicates effectively with diverse crews, and maintains a strong presence on the jobsite. Salary range: $110-130k.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience (utility, transmission, or electrical preferred).
• OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification. OSHA 500 (preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between project locations.

Responsibilities

• Daily Field Safety Oversight across HVDC work areas, with hazard identification and corrective actions.
• Subcontractor oversight: review JHAs, safety plans, and training records.
• Project safety support: ensure lockout/tagout, fall protection, crane operations and high‑risk tasks are controlled.
• Documentation & reporting: logs, investigations, and Cal/OSHA ready records.
• Training & communication: pre‑task huddles and safety orientations.
• High‑risk work monitoring: oversee crane, trenching, hot work and heavy equipment safety.
• Emergency preparedness: ensure equipment readiness and drill coordination.
• Promote a positive safety culture through leadership and field presence.
