Job summary

UST – A Tech24 Company in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced HVACR technician to join our on-site team. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including walk-ins, rooftops, and ice machines, while delivering professional service to customers.

We value self-motivation, reliability, and the ability to work independently. You’ll document work, follow EPA standards, and participate in ongoing training and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of commercial HVAC and refrigeration service experience.
• EPA Universal Certification required.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration, electrical diagnostics, and airflow systems.
• Experience with commercial kitchen equipment is a plus.
• Ability to read manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

As part of the UST team and broader Tech24 network, the HVACR technician plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring customers' operations run efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently while representing the company with professionalism and integrity. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment including walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, rooftop units, split systems, and exhaust/make-up air systems
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
• Install, replace, and commission HVAC and refrigeration systems as needed
• Accurately document service calls, parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions in company system
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding equipment issues, repair recommendations, and preventative maintenance plans
• Maintain EPA compliance and adhere to all local, state and federal safety regulations
• Manage truck inventory to ensure proper parts and tools are stocked
• Respond to emergency service calls in a timely and professional manner
• Represent the company with professionalism while delivering high-quality customer service
• Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration service
• EPA Universal Certification required
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical diagnostics, airflow systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
• Experience working on commercial kitchen equipment is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
• Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
• Own industry standard hand tools
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed

Compensation Transparency

The advertised pay range for this position is $40-$50. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience level, technical certifications, skill set, and overall qualifications. Candidates with advanced commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience, manufacture certifications, or specialized expertise may be considered at the higher end of the range.
