Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Technicians to support our North America HVAC business. You will work on commercial and ducted systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, AHUs, and rooftop ducted units.

Qualifications

  • Must have practical working experience on commercial and/or ducted products, chillers (air or water cooled), AHUs or roof-top units.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC/mechanical systems and repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, or other components.
  • Willingness to travel 10–20% for training, startup, commissioning, and after-market service.
  • Licensed in universal EPA refrigerants and any applicable state/local licensing; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level service to customers; diagnose issues and implement corrective actions during commissioning and after-market service.
  • Develop and present quotes to customers for recommendations and improvements.
  • Collaborate with local market mechanics to ensure safety and quality; uphold high service standards.

What you will do:

How will you do it:
  • We are looking for skilled HVAC Technicians with proven experience in commercial and/or ducted systems, air-cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, air handling units (AHUs), and rooftop ducted units.
  • We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. We offer incentive programs and a #1 focus on employee safety.
  • We also provide tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle to perform your job and service our customers to the highest standard.
  • Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
What we look for Required:
  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Travel will be required for training during the first six months.
  • Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for startup, commissioning, trouble shooting and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical working experience on commercial and/or ducted products, air cooled and/or water‑cooled chillers, AHU’s or Roof Top ducted units with strong HVAC/ mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers system components.
  • Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers startup and commissioning activities as well as aftermarket service trouble shooting.
  • You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assessment proficiencies.

  • Self-starter with a passion/ desire to learn and apply on the job.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

Pay Range: $54.60 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
