Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking HVAC Technicians to support the North America non-residential chillers portfolio. You will service air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, with STA factory certification, tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle provided.

Join a team focused on safety, collaboration, and exceptional customer outcomes. The role requires 3–5 years of HVAC/R experience, chiller knowledge, a 06A electrical license, and EPA refrigerant credentials.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years HVAC/R experience with direct chiller experience preferred.
  • Valid 06A Electrical License and EPA refrigerants license required.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification and strong safety focus.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Excellent communication with customers and teammates; able to write clear notes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level service on HVAC systems, chillers, and related components.
  • Solve facility inefficiencies and complete commissioning and after-market service.
  • Present quotes to customers and support sales opportunities.
  • Travel 10%–20% to support startup, commissioning, and service activities.
  • Work collaboratively with local market mechanics and uphold safety standards.

How will you do it

We are looking for skilled HVAC Technicians who have experience with Commercial products, air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers. We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. We offer incentive programs and a #1 focus on employee safety. We also provide tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle to perform your job and service our customers to the highest standard.

Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for
Required
  • Be a dedicated member of the Local 32 Union.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of HVAC/R experience, with direct chiller experience preferred.
  • Able to repair centrifugal compressors and screw chillers system components.
  • 06A Electrical License
  • Osha 10 or 30 Certified
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues
  • Perform refrigerant leak detection, recovery, evacuation, charging, and documentation in compliance with EPA regulations
  • Travel maybe required 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers startup and commissioning activities as well as aftermarket service trouble shooting.
  • Opportunity to invest in career development. You will enroll in training programs and JCI’s STA to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • You will work collaboratively with other local market mechanics.
  • Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.Able to write and communicate to the customer problem, cause, and corrective actions.
  • Able to provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Self-starter with a passion/ desire to learn and apply on the job.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • OEM training from manufacturers such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin
  • Experience with vibration analysis and predictive maintenance technologies
  • Troubleshoot and repair centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating compressors
  • Experience with chiller overhauls, large repairs, startups, and performing maintenance
*This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
Pay Range:

$68.47 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
