Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking motivated HVAC apprentices to join our service team. You will train on mechanical equipment and controls at client sites, and participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build your skills and advance.

You will learn to provide practical recommendations to improve facility efficiency, while supporting quotes and upsell opportunities. A valid driver's license and safety-focused mindset are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical HVAC systems.
• Effective interpersonal skills to professionally represent Johnson Controls.
• Leadership to support mechanics on non-complex HVAC equipment on job sites.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and prioritize safety.
• Valid driver's license; preferred 1–2 years of technical schooling.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.

As a trusted advisor to our customers you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service How you will do it Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites. Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement. Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs. You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed. You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site Self‑starter with ability to eventually work independently. Prioritize safety in all forms. This position requires a valid driver’s license. Preferred 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

Pay Range: $22.55-$32.80 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
