Job summary

Amentum is seeking an HVAC/R Maintenance Technician for our Pearl River, NY site. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of industrial and commercial HVAC systems to ensure reliable operation.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of HVAC/R experience, strong electrical/mechanical skills, and the ability to work in a 24/7 facility with varying shift requirements. You will operate CMMS and comply with safety and GMP guidelines.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills with HVAC experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits 24V to 480V.
  • Experience with CMMS and work order management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  • Identify and correct safety issues; evaluate equipment reliability.
  • Operate, diagnose, repair ventilation systems, chillers, AHUs, and compressors.
  • Utilize CMMS to track work orders and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and safety guidelines.

The successful candidate will have outstanding HVAC skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.

  • This is primarily a 1st shift position that supports a 24/7 operation; scheduled work hours may vary based on critical business demand.
Responsibilities
  • Providing a high level of expertise in performing preventive and corrective maintenance to a wide variety of industrial or commercial facility HVAC equipment.
  • Identifying and correcting any safety‑related issues and performing independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
  • Operating, maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Utilizing the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facilities equipment.
  • Utilizing strong mechanical and electrical skills in order to complete assignments.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled from a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Performing the functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operating various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Maintaining a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Management or Lead.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience as an HVAC/R maintenance technician in industrial and/or commercial environments or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and air‑conditioning skills are required, as well as the ability to work safely with 3‑phase power up to and including 480V.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical circuits ranging from 24V AC/DC and up.
  • Ability to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver’s license issued by the State Department Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
Physical / Special Requirements
  • Regularly lift to 50lbs
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color‑coding
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.
Preferred
  • EPA Universal certification.
  • Experience with electrical (480 volt 3 phase and below).
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (Honeywell and Siemens).
  • Experience with DX Split Systems.
  • Experience with Package Systems.
  • Experience with a CMMS program and Microsoft Office.
