Job summary

Austin Industrial in Florence, SC, is hiring an HVAC Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate HVAC systems in support of safe, reliable plant operations. This role involves working in production and maintenance areas with required PPE such as supplied-air hoods.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HVAC systems through Honeywell OS following cGMP procedures.
• Comply with SOPs and regulatory documents.
• Maintain and repair air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration equipment and related systems.
• Troubleshoot, replace, and adjust control instrumentation for HVAC per GMP guidelines.
• Provide technical feedback to automation, maintenance, and supervisor for possible solutions to HVAC issues.
• Investigate and correct out of range temperatures and humidity in offices, process areas, and computer rooms.
• Obtain licenses for and demonstrate ability to operate various materials handling equipment.
• Administer, document, and maintain conformance to regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Perform minor mechanical and equipment maintenance.
• Perform pipe fitting and brazing as required.

The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning and associated equipment to support safe and reliable plant operations. This position requires working in production and maintenance environments that may require the use of supplied-air respiratory hood and other required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor HVAC systems through Honeywell Operating system following cGMP procedures
• Comply with all SOP's and regulatory documents/agencies
• Maintain and repair air conditioning, heating, ventilation, refrigeration equipment and related systems
• Troubleshoot, replace, and adjust associated control instrumentation for the HVAC equipment following GMP guidelines
• Provide technical feedback to automation, maintenance, and supervisor for possible solutions to HVAC issues
• Investigate and correct out of range temperatures and humidity in offices, process areas, and computer rooms
• Obtain licenses for and demonstrate ability to operate various materials handling equipment
• Administer, document, and maintain conformance to regulatory requirements and company policies through effective utilization of Company Quality Systems and tools
• Perform minor mechanical and equipment maintenance
• Perform pipe fitting and brazing as required
• Assist HVAC vendors by providing appropriate permits
• Perform as liaison with vendors for chiller systems
• Utilize Microsoft Office software to create, modify, save, and print documents in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and work records.
• Follow all plant safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned work areas.
• Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications

• AS degree or 3 years of industrial experience in HVAC, instrument or controls
• Experience with industrial BMS
• EPA approved universal refrigerant certification is preferred
• Have reliable transportation to work
• Good knowledge and understanding of basic HVAC equipment
• Good problem-solving skills and logical approach to solving problems
• Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills to foster the team environment
• Ability to read and interpret technical prints and governmental regulations
• Ability to apply basic mathematical principles
• Strong attention to detail and drive to accomplish the job timely, accurately and safely the first time
• Ability to work closely and effectively in a team environment
• Ability to apply knowledge of Good Manufacturing processes and the knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical processes, equipment, instrumentation, and procedures
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, oron-callas needed.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Must be able to wear a supplied-air hood or respirator for extended periods as required by job tasks or environmental conditions.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, or chemical process environments.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
• Must be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
