Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking an on-site HVAC technician skilled in preventive and corrective maintenance for critical facilities. The role focuses on servicing chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, and related systems across government and commercial sites.

Applicants should have a strong HVAC background, journeyman-level licensing, and willingness to work nights, weekends, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Top Secret clearance eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 6+ years of commercial HVAC experience.
  • Commercial HVAC experience as a truck-based service technician.
  • Experience with complex HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-service maintenance and installation for mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Support customers in government-based facilities and private clients with service contracts.

Our mission-critical services will meet our customer’s needs whether they are using a full-service, monthly, or quarterly based service contract. Our customers consist of mostly government-based facilities but also include privately-owned and commercially operated businesses.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GEDand 6+ years of commercial HVAC experience
  • Commercial HVAC experience as atruck-based service technician.
  • Experience working withcomplex HVAC systemsincluding chillers, boilers, package units, AHUs, and VAV systems (direct digital, pneumatic, and automated controls).
  • Completion of anHVAC technical training programor recognized apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Journeyman Licenseor ability to obtain one per program standards (within 1 year if not currently held).
  • Current CFC/EPA Universal Certification.
  • Holistic understanding ofmechanical equipmentandHVAC designin commercial and industrial environments.
  • HVAC OEM factory training or experience withTrane, Liebert, Stulz, and other major brands.
  • U.S. Citizenshipand ability to obtain and maintain aTop Secret clearance(applicants will undergo a government background investigation).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to comply withM.C. Dean vehicle policies.
  • Strong understanding ofHVAC tools, machines, and their proper maintenance.
  • Proficiency in usinghand tools and test equipmentto perform diagnostic and repair work.
  • Ability to completetimely documentationincluding maintenance reports, service tickets, and daily safety briefings.
  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skillsin English.
  • Willingness to worknights, weekends, and participate in a24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Ability totravel occasionallyoutside normal working areas; may require limited overnight travel.
  • Basic computer skills includingMicrosoft Office applications.
  • Ability to workindependently, resourcefully, and safely.
Preferred experience
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills down to the component levelon boilers, chillers, AHUs, VAVs, heat pumps, and CRAC units.
  • Ability toread and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and system plans.
  • CurrentMaster HVAC Licenseor equivalent technical degree.
  • Experience withLiebert HVAC systems.
  • Strong customer-relation skills with ability to provideproactive recommendationsto clients.

Abilities
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
