The City of Arlington is seeking a skilled HVAC technician to perform routine and emergency maintenance on electrical and HVAC systems in city facilities to keep them in good working condition.
Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, coordinating with other departments, and providing project support during design and construction. Candidates must have EPA certification, a valid Texas Driver License, a high school diploma or GED, and at least three years in HVAC service.
Salary $22.74 - $28.43
JOB SUMMARY Performs routine and emergency maintenance work including but not limited to electrical and HVAC mechanical systems and related equipment. Responsible for various duties and other systems associated with keeping a City Facility in operational condition.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge of building and uniform mechanical codes. Knowledge of the principles of refrigeration, chill and heating water systems, boilers and their operations, ventilation and air handling, general air flow, and basic electricity. Knowledge of HVAC control systems. Skill in reading and diagnosing problems from as built schematics. Skill in preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment. Skill in communicating with other city employees and vendors by oral and written means. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC control systems. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound. Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to, carrying, kneeling, pulling, and standing. Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 125 pounds. Ability to operate a motorized vehicle. Ability to operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to vacuum pumps, torch require work including silver soldering, and test equipment. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Ability to work at elevated heights, including on ladders and mechanical lift equipment. Incumbent is subject to fume/odor, dust/mites, chemical, mechanical, and electrical hazards. Qualifying Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Three (3) years of experience in the HVAC service field. EPA certification. Valid Texas Driver License, Class C.
