Job summary

Teya Development is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems across federal facilities in Arizona, including Land Ports of Entry and courthouses. The role requires strong troubleshooting and the ability to work independently in mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of HVAC experience, EPA 608 certification, and familiarity with BAS controls.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years experience in commercial or industrial HVAC.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and low-voltage controls.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on RTUs, split systems, chillers, boilers, and VAV/AHU equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and federal facility safety standards.
  • Diagnose refrigerant issues, electrical faults, airflow problems, and control failures.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of BAS-controlled systems and emergency service calls.
  • Adjust, calibrate, and monitor Building Automation Systems; optimize setpoints and sequences.

Job description

Position Description:

We are seeking an HVAC Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems across federal facilities, including Land Ports of Entry (LPOEs) and courthouse buildings. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting capability, understands complex mechanical systems, and can operate independently in a mission-critical environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations & Maintenance
  • Perform PM and repairs on: Rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, heat pumps, Chillers, boilers, cooling towers, VAVs, AHUs, fan coils, exhaust systems, VRF/VRV systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Follow federal O&M requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
Troubleshooting & Repair
  • Diagnose refrigerant issues, electrical faults, airflow problems, and control failures.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of BAS-controlled systems.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and restore operation quickly.
Controls & BAS
  • Adjust, calibrate, and monitor Building Automation Systems.
  • Support optimization including setpoints, sequences, alarms, and PID loop tuning.
Documentation & Safety
  • Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and PM checklists accurately.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and federal facility safety standards.
  • Maintain EPA Section 608 compliance.
Collaboration
  • Support the Facility Manager and coordinate with other trades.
  • Communicate clearly with government personnel and occupants.
  • Assist with small projects, equipment replacements, and system upgrades.
Required Qualifications
  • 1-3 years experience in commercial or industrial HVAC.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and low-voltage controls.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on rooftops, and perform physical duties.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NATE Certification (North American Technician Excellence) - highly preferred.
  • Experience with federal facilities (GSA, DHS/CBP).
  • Experience with Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Trane BAS.
  • Experience with VRF/VRV systems.
  • Experience with chillers, boilers, and central plant equipment.
