Job summary

EMI Services, a subsidiary of TechFlow, Inc., seeks a Commercial HVAC Technician I at Fort Jackson to maintain, repair, replace, and modernize HVAC systems to meet climatic conditions. EPA Universal Certification preferred; 2+ years in commercial HVAC; high school diploma; valid REAL ID driver’s license.

Qualifications

• EPA Type II Refrigeration License is preferred/required.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial HVAC maintenance and repair.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain REAL ID.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, replace, and modernize HVAC systems to meet climatic conditions.
• Diagnose malfunctions and determine efficient repair methods.
• Prepare work orders and estimate material costs.
• May assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques.
• Ensure workplace safety and proper PPE usage.

HVAC Technicians on the Fort Jackson team specialize in commercial HVAC, the Technician performs maintenance, repair, replacement, and modernization of HVAC systems in order to achieve regulated climatic conditions. Position requires the Technician has extensive knowledge of HVAC principles and the ability to recognize and determine the most efficient method for diagnosing, testing and correcting malfunctions. The ideal EMI HVAC Technician is EPA Universal Certified and has the skill level to make repairs on a variety of systems.

Salary

$27.60/hr. plus $5.09 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities

• Work on various types of HVAC units:
  • split package, residential style, and up to light commercial, mini-splits, VAV's and AHU
• Use a multi-meter to check voltage lamp
• Use a torch for brazing
• Prepare work orders and cost materials estimates
• May assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques

Essential Skills

• Work independently, a self-starter
• Read schematic diagrams
• Understand the Refrigeration cycle with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend repair strategies
• PRACTICE WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in the repair of HVAC equipment
• including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in the maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of COMMERCIAL heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning systems

• EPA type II Refrigeration License
• HVAC course or equivalent
• Duty Phone
• Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Regular, dependable attendance
• U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
• Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
• Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
• Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
• Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
