Job summary

Brio Living Services is seeking an HVAC Technician to maintain a safe, comfortable environment across our senior living campus at Chelsea Retirement Community in Chelsea, MI. This on-site role focuses on preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems.

You’ll work a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:30am–4:00pm, min 40 hours weekly. The position requires professionalism around residents and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Apprenticeship and/or formal training in HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of HVAC experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on HVAC and related mechanical systems.
  • Install and repair HVAC units, equipment, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydronic pumps, valves, air compressors, pipes, fittings and control systems.
  • Support plumbing and drainage system components in accordance with codes.
  • Prioritize and complete scheduled maintenance and repair requests in a timely manner.

Description

Schedule: Exempt, min 40 hours per week | Monday-Friday | 7:30am-4:00pm

Department: Environmental Services | Chelsea Retirement Community | Chelsea, MI

What You'll Do: As an HVAC Technician at Chelsea Retirement Community, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment across our senior living campus. This is an onsite position, allowing you to support one community rather than traveling from client to client throughout the day.

In this role, you’ll perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, and complete a variety of mechanical and plumbing-related repairs throughout the community. You’ll install and service HVAC equipment, hydronic systems, pumps, pipes, fittings, and control systems while ensuring work is completed safely and professionally.

Because this work takes place in an active senior living environment, professionalism, cleanliness, and respect while working in and around residents’ homes is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance – Establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC and related mechanical systems.
  • Install & Repair HVAC Systems – Install new HVAC units, replacement parts, and perform repairs on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain Mechanical Systems – Troubleshoot and repair hydronic pumps, valves, air compressors, pipes, fittings, and control systems.
  • Support Plumbing & Drainage Systems – Assemble, install, and repair heating, water, and drainage system components in accordance with plumbing codes and specifications.
  • Manage Work Orders – Prioritize and complete scheduled maintenance and repair requests in a timely manner.
  • Track Materials & Labor – Utilize the work order system to document hours worked, materials used, and project updates.
  • Prepare Project Estimates – Estimate labor, materials, and equipment needs to support maintenance and repair projects.
  • Maintain Resident-Focused Service – Perform duties with professionalism and consideration for residents’ comfort, cleanliness, and safety while working in and around resident homes.
  • Follow Safety & Compliance Standards – Ensure all work is completed in accordance with federal, state, local, and organizational safety guidelines and regulations.
