Job summary

Jobtailor in Richmond, VA, is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to perform routine maintenance on commercial systems, inspect equipment, and ensure safe, reliable operation on-site.

You will lead Level I technicians, explain technical details to customers, and coordinate service calls, while logging work, parts, and time. Ongoing training and certifications are encouraged to develop new skills and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • EPA Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment, including logging machines, cleaning coils, replacing filters and lubrication.
  • Repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
  • Direct Level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles promptly
  • Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call
  • Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld

Job description

  • Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
  • Repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
  • Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
  • Perform warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
  • Direct Level I technicians through hands‑on demonstrations of all necessary steps to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
  • Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call
  • Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning.
  • Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
Requirements
  • 3+ years related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Rotational Emergency Call Support as required
  • Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
  • EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
