Responsible for delivering effective, efficient, and timely delivery of the Company’s line of services to multiple customers within an assigned geographic territory. The technician is provided a company van and tools, travels to a variety of customer sites to maintain commercial properties, and performs minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical maintenance. EMCOR Field Operations HVAC Technicians perform preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot, and service commercial HVAC systems. They conduct tests and analysis of data to assure the proper functioning of equipment and provide recommendations as appropriate. They understand control operation and sequence of operation for commercial HVAC systems and utilize multiple trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and roofing as needed to solve maintenance problems. Strong communication skills are required to foster strong relationships with customers, vendors and team members.
Complete preventative maintenance and repairs per work order requirements.
Obtains necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
Creates a positive climate with the client, provides and generates customer satisfaction, and maintains timely and consistent communications with customers and internal support teams.
Obtains and completes EFS required safety and compliance training and attends weekly safety meetings.
Provides estimates for larger projects and services needed on site.
Education: HS diploma or equivalent; HS diploma or degree/certification, or equivalent professional experience in landscaping, trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc.), or specialty floor care preferred.
Certification: 2‑year HVAC technical certificate or state‑approved HVAC license.
Experience: 5 years HVAC/General Maintenance experience including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Demonstrated ability to perform duties and responsibilities as described, including experience with Industrial/commercial HVAC equipment/systems as required.
Licenses/Certifications: Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and a valid driver’s license in good standing, including an EPA Universal Refrigeration License.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, safety policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to effectively present information individually and in small groups.
Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner and communicate work order status via designated business process.
Ability to use handheld devices and business systems or document management database software, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety; perform assigned day‑to‑day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
Maintain knowledge of OSHA standards and company safety policies at all times.
Experience in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Daily local travel between properties.
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Frequently required to climb or balance. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level is considered normal. Required to drive a company vehicle daily and wear safety equipment such as steel‑toe shoes, hearing protection, hardhat, eye protection, and hand protection. Abide by OSHA guidelines including lock‑out/tag‑out and HAZCOM guidelines and all other company and customer‑driven safety initiatives. Hours of work are governed by business volume and contract schedules. Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm in the face of the customer.
