Job summary

Stanford University’s Residential & Dining Enterprises seeks an HVAC Mechanic Specialist to diagnose, install, test, and maintain complex HVAC systems. You will lead advanced troubleshooting, advise on difficult assignments, and ensure energy-efficient operation across facilities on campus.

The role requires journeyman apprenticeship with 7+ years’ experience, EPA Class III or Universal Technician certification, and a California driver’s license. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Journey level knowledge with 7+ years of experience or equivalent.
• Extensive troubleshooting and problem solving in HVAC systems.
• High level testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) skills.
• EPA certification required (Class III or Universal Technician).
• Valid California Non‑commercial Class C Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex troubleshooting of HVAC systems and analyze functional performance.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, and service HVAC equipment including controls and instrumentation.
• Adjust and balance HVAC systems to optimize efficiency and energy use.
• Repair difficult issues, possibly modifying parts for older systems.
• Maintain proactive maintenance of a wide range of HVAC systems.
