Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a dynamic HVAC Start Up / Commissioning Technician to support field teams and contractors. You will oversee maintenance, survey repairs, and implement repair scenarios with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Background in Controls or HVAC is preferred. Role involves setting up HVAC systems, scheduling tasks with multiple clients, supervising projects, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in HVAC trade field or equivalent combination
• Background in field operations and customer interaction
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems or controls is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in setup and implementation of HVAC systems and commissioning
• Schedule and perform tasks with clients; supervise assigned tasks
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance; manage timekeeping and daily activity reports
• Participate in safety inspections and risk assessments
• Test new equipment to design specifications; perform other duties as assigned

Summary/Objective

The HVAC Start Up / Commissioning Technician will support field trade teams and/or third party contractors and oversee and direct maintenance and/or personnel and processes critical to the safe and efficient completion of tasks. Must have ability to effectively survey any repairs needed, create a repair scenario and effectively implement scenario. Background in Controls or HVAC.

Essential Functions

• Assist in the Set up and implementation of HVAC systems, starting them up and successfully programing them
• Work with the multiple clients to schedule and successfully perform assigned tasks
• Supervise tasks and projects assigned
• Investigate, evaluate, and recommend changes and modifications to improve safety
• Maintain inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance records
• Manage employee time records and daily activity reports
• Participate in safety inspections, job safety analyses, and safety meetings
• Testing of new equipment / repair equipment to design specifications
• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: Sometimes

Required

• 5+ years of experience in the HVAC trade field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• Previous experience in an operational and customer facing role
• In-depth knowledge of two or more of the following disciplines: plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC Cooling and ducted air systems, general construction practices, generator systems, and controls systems
• Excellent building services knowledge
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
• Must be available to work assigned schedules

Work Environment

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

• May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
• May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands

• This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
• While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel

• May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred

• Prior military experience
• HS diploma or GED equivalent
