Job summary

Texas AirSystems seeks experienced HVAC Field Technicians to travel to customer sites for start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of equipment we represent. Independent work with strong diagnostic skills is required, along with coordination of personnel and services for project start-ups.

The role focuses on support for data center systems, collaborating with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and Service Coordinators to ensure timely, quality service and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • HVAC certification and OSHA 10 training plus 5+ years as a service technician in a commercial environment.
  • Vertiv training or certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Manage start-up, commissioning, and support for data center equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment; coordinate with project managers and field supervisors.
  • Perform factory start-up and warranty service on equipment represented by the company.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and ensure safe operation and adherence to safety measures.
  • Provide timely documentation and communicate effectively with customers and team.

The Opportunity

This position requires thecapability to work independently, and candidates should have strong diagnostic skills. Requirestheability to manage projectsfor start-upcommissioning and coordination ofpersonneland services.This is a full-time opportunity for an energeticself-starter. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and work well with others.The positionrequires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers,Field Supervisors,Service Coordinators and customers.This position of Field Technician for our Critical Systems Solutions division is focused on support our equipment sales to data centers.

FundamentalFunctions&Responsibilities
  • Manage projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision
  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals
  • Face difficult and sometimes complexopportunities; takes a perspective to provide solutions
  • Start-up, commission, and support BMS on equipment we represent
  • Perform factory start-up, commissioning, warranty service on Data Center Vertiv equipment and systems we represent.
  • Performs electrical and mechanical inspectionson equipment to ensure peak performance
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location and operation of the system(s)
  • Represents the company in a positive manner to other trades, contractors and owners
  • Suggest additional services that are beneficial to customer
  • Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Submits required paperwork to Service Coordinator in a timely manner
  • Must work in a safe mannerdailyand ensure that all safety measures arealways taken
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Ability to travel substantially within operational region.
  • A flexible schedule may be required.
  • Willingness to work in adverse working conditions
The Required Profile
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Vertiv trained or certified
  • Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus 5+ years’ experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
  • Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification,Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman,Master license)
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Will be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sitesdaily

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
