Position Title: HVAC Service Technician (Journeyman)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Service
Date: 2024
Reports to: Field Service Manager
Location: Westminster / Denver Metro Service Area
Wage Range: $32-$45+/hr DOE

Job Summary
Operates, diagnoses, maintains and repairs HVAC/R systems and equipment for MTech Mechanical Services commercial/industrial clients. Also provides technical education for team members as needed.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Operates and diagnoses HVAC/R systems and equipment up to 100 tons cooling capacity and 10 million BTU’s heating capacity as well as boilers up to 150 HP.
  2. Monitors systems operation to ensure efficiency and compliance with specifications using manufacturer’s handbooks, MTech procedures and local codes.
  3. Responsible for client satisfaction with all clients/projects assigned; interprets drawings and schematics and installs HVAC/R components; tests HVAC/R equipment for proper operation.
  4. Verifies equipment registrations per local, state and federal codes.
  5. Maintains and repairs HVAC/R equipment and systems.
  6. Plans and performs recurring maintenance and seasonal overhaul on systems and components.
  7. Uses drawings and schematics to analyze and isolate malfunctions.
  8. Troubleshoots systems using manufacturer’s handbook, MTech procedures and local codes.
  9. Must be familiar with State, Federal and Local codes and hold journeyman (F29 or F31) licenses for Denver and/or other local municipalities.
  10. Ensures compliance with environmental regulations of fuels, refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
  11. Modifies equipment for increased reliability and/or to increase efficiency.
  12. Repairs or replaces components.
  13. Completes all required paperwork (MSI & Keystyle) at the jobsite.
  14. Maintains safety compliance paperwork.
  15. Maintains shop tools, tool list and equipment.
  16. Helps to support construction and all other departments as needed.
  17. Ability to operate a company vehicle in accordance with the MTech policy and procedures manual.
  18. Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position.
  19. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. 4-year apprenticeship certificate or 4 years of relevant field experience required.
  2. High school diploma/GED required.
  3. Must be approved to drive per MTech’s driving standards.
  4. Highly motivated and independent self-starter.
  5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Expertise in all aspects of HVAC service.
  7. Ability to work on call when needed.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  9. Continued training is required.
