Job summary

EMCOR Services Aircond in the Charleston, SC area is seeking an HVAC Service Technician II-III to install, service and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related environmental-control systems. This role requires knowledge of DX equipment, psychometrics, controls and safe work practices.

You will travel throughout the region and work on Class 2 and 3 service duties, with opportunities to advance based on qualifications and performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade/Technical School certification or degree preferred.
• 1–5+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience including exposure to control, compound and reciprocating systems as well as refrigerants.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems.
• Diagnose refrigerant system issues.
• Read schematics and interpret electrical diagrams.
• Troubleshoot: unitary DX equipment, controls, and related systems.
• Travel regionally across Charleston, SC area and surroundings.
• Adhere to PPE and safety policies.

Job Summary

Job Title: HVAC Service Technician II-III

Summary: Install, service, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and related environmental-control systems. Utilize knowledge of heating and refrigeration theory, and pipefitting.

Location: This role is based out of the Charelston, SC area and will require travel throughout the region.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Posting covers Class 2 and 3 Service Technician. Duties are based on the candidate’s qualifications below.

Class 2 Service Technician

• Ability to read schematics
• Understanding of up to 20-ton unitary DX equipment
• Understanding of psychometrics
• Basic understanding of Controls
• Basic understanding of Quoting
• Diagnosing refrigerant system issues

Class 3 Service Technician

• Understanding of 5 through 100-ton unitary DX equipment, chilled water air handlers, computer room units (CRAC), Pneumatic and DDC controls.
• Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills on 100 ton and less unitary DX equipment.
• Capable of all repairs needed on rooftop package equipment.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on air-cooled chillers.
• Troubleshoot and repair water cooled package equipment.
• Diagnose problems using electrical schematics.
• Diagnosing refrigerant system issues.
• Basic understanding variable frequency drives.
• Diagnose issues with variable air volume equipment (VAV’s/PIU’s)

Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer and tablets.
• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong adaptability skills.

Required Experience, Certifications, and Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Trade/Technical School certification or degree preferred.
• One to five years plus of commercial/industrial HVAC experience including exposure to control, compound and reciprocating systems as well as refrigerants. Experience level is based on technician classifications described above.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces. Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes. Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required while performing tasks.
