Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is hiring an HVAC Service Technician I in Virginia for hands-on work on commercial equipment. You will participate in comprehensive training programs and service rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and water-source heat pumps across Richmond and Virginia Beach locations.

You will assist with maintenance, repairs, and replacements, while documenting work orders and keeping customers informed. OSHA training, safety protocols, and ongoing skill development are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• HVAC certificate or associate degree preferred.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (training during onboarding).
• First aid/CPR card preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service commercial HVAC equipment including rooftop units, chillers, and boilers.
• Assist in repairs and replacements of defective equipment and wiring.
• Document billing, inventory, and timecards promptly.
• Communicate status to customers before, during, and after service calls.
• Participate in training and maintain required certifications.

Location:

Richmond, VA and/or Virginia Beach, VA

Your Responsibilities

• Assist and perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Assist in the repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Assist with warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree or technical school with an HVAC certificate (preferred)
• 0-2 years of related work experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Commercial HVAC industry experience (preferred)
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $20.80 - $33.27 in VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
