Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking an Air Conditioning Mechanic I to maintain and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment across campus. Under general supervision, you will monitor energy management systems, perform routine preventative maintenance, and respond promptly to service requests, outages, and equipment failures.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least four years of HVAC/refrigeration maintenance experience, and an EPA Universal Refrigeration certificate.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of experience in maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration certificate preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots HVAC, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation systems.
  • Monitors energy management and chilled water treatment systems; reports issues promptly.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment; changes filters as needed.
  • Answers service requests, provides progress updates, and documents work performed.
  • Ensures safety compliance with OSHA, EPA, and NFPA requirements.
  • Assists with inventory management and prepares required reports.
