Job summary

CAREL USA, Inc. in Brea, CA seeks an HVAC Controls Engineer to design and develop control solutions for HVAC/R systems using programmable controllers. You will support regional customers and collaborate with sales and engineering teams.

Requirements include a 4-year engineering degree and 3–5 years in programmable controls, familiarity with IEC 61131-3, BACnet or Modbus, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Three to five years of experience with Programmable Controls and Electronics in a technical or commercial role.
• One or more years of experience in the HVAC/R Industry.
• Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and Function Block Diagram programming.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and process control diagrams.
• Familiarity with automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
• Basic knowledge of Networking/IT Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements programmable control solutions for the HVAC/R industry.
• Trains customers in the use of proprietary hardware and software solutions.
• Interacts and visits with customers to support application software development.
• Assists customers in the development and implementation of control solutions.
• Assesses existing control logic to identify issues and potential improvements.
• Possesses working knowledge of the full range of product platforms.
• Works with the sales team to determine customer control requirements.
• Provides support and troubleshooting to customers for Carel products and software solutions.

Carel USA is looking for aHVAC Controls Engineer who has a strong aptitude for designing and developing solutions for HVAC controls systems. This person should be a self-starter, able to view different parts of the system as a whole and think outside of the box.

This position will be responsible for the design and development of HVAC/R software solutions using programmable controllers and established product platforms. This position will also assist in providing technical support within the region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Designs, develops, and implements programmable control solutions for the HVAC/R industry
• Trains customers in the use of proprietary hardware and software solutions
• Interacts and visits with customer, asrequiredto support the development of application software
• Assistscustomers in the development and implementation of control solutions
• Assesses existing control logic toidentifyissues and potential improvements
• Possesses working knowledge of the full range of product platforms
• Works with the sales team todeterminecustomer control requirements
• Workswith sales teamand marketing teamsto provide feedback based on customer requests, industry trends, and domain knowledge to develop and enhance electronic service offerings.
• Provides support and troubleshooting to customers for Carel products and software solutions

Excellent verbal and written skills are required. Candidate must possess the ability to communicate to a group of people, and interact with customers.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Any HVAC/R or ASHRAE certifications or registrations a plus.ISO 9001, any Lean certification, or computer related certifications a plus.
