Responsibilities
The Service Tech 4 – HVAC performs maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex HVAC issues, guiding junior technicians, and ensuring efficient system operation.
- Provides service to customers by repairing and overhauling equipment such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, electrical and mechanical control devices in a safe, efficient and timely manner that exceeds customer expectations.
- Provides repair work on refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors and electric motors.
- Provides preventative maintenance activities for customers by diagnosing equipment malfunction and any operating deficiency of the mechanical equipment to ensure quality work performance.
- Provides department support by processing job tickets and work orders to the necessary department in a timely manner.
- Provides necessary training to new or less qualified technicians as needed.
- Maintains proper truck inventory continuously and drives company vehicle in a safe manner.

Qualifications
Education / Training
- High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes.
- Must have passed Tech Skills level 4 with an 80% or better.
- Valid EPA certificate.
Work Experience / Skills
- 3‑5 years’ experience in construction HVAC, Refrigeration, or a related industry.
- Must have chiller experience.
- Experience in troubleshooting electrical control systems is required.
- Knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of refrigeration equipment and piping of refrigeration equipment.
- Knowledge of computer‑controlled systems.
- Ability to read and understand refrigeration, electrical and plumbing blueprints.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to pump down all refrigeration systems and reclaim refrigerant from all types of systems.
- Good communication and presentation skills and excellent customer service.
- Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
- Ability to use typical business tools including E‑Mail, Word, Excel, etc.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work typically occurs in convenience stores, grocery stores, food service and/or construction environments, including working at heights from ladders and/or scissor lifts.
- Mechanical rooms may contain elevated noise levels.
- Position regularly works near/with refrigeration/HVAC equipment that can expose workers to extreme cold from refrigerant and high heat from brazing operations.
- Role routinely works in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
- Employees must use the correct PPE and safe work practices.
- Position is very active and requires excellent stamina to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Employees are regularly required to walk and stand for long periods, hear, drive, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl or climb, use hands and fingers, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
