Johnson Controls is hiring apprentices to train on HVAC equipment and controls at client sites, supported by the Service Technical Academy. This bargaining unit position emphasizes safety, mentorship, and hands-on diagnostics in building systems.

You will help customers achieve efficient operation and upsell where appropriate, with union-backed training and a clear path to advancement within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of industry experience or servicing mechanical HVAC systems.
• Knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems and facilities management.
• Strong interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally.
• Leadership to support technicians on non-complex HVAC equipment.
• Self-starter able to work independently and prioritize safety.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Trade school or college in a technical emphasis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and issues.
• Act as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions at the time of service.
• Apprentices will train and perform on HVAC equipment and controls on client sites.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training in year one.
• Offer recommendations and solutions to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

How you will do it

Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites. Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement. Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs. You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed. You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. This is a Bargaining Union Position

What we look for

• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver's license.
• Preferred 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

*This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Pay Range: $24.11 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.

Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
