Job summary

Ardmore Roderick in Chicago, IL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC experience to join our buildings solutions team. You will work with senior engineers and project managers to develop designs from concept through construction documents, focusing on efficient, code-compliant systems.

The ideal candidate has 1 to 5 years of HVAC design experience, proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, and the ability to coordinate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1 to 5 years of HVAC systems design experience.
• Experience applying building codes and standards.
• Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design.
• Familiarity with HVAC load calculation software such as Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, IES, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Support HVAC design from concept through construction documents under supervision.
• Develop HVAC drawings, schedules, details, and BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Perform HVAC load calculations and equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, and energy code support.
• Coordinate HVAC with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines.
• Review designs for code compliance and prepare permit drawings and specifications.
• Assist with project budgeting, scheduling, and QA/QC reviews.
