Job summary

DPR Construction in Baltimore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – HVAC to lead the design, analysis, and development of building systems through all project phases. You will prepare HVAC drawings, calculations, and specifications, apply energy standards and codes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver energy-efficient, constructible solutions for commercial and institutional facilities.

PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong knowledge of IMC, ASHRAE, IECC and related codes.
• Proficiency with CAD, BIM platforms, and HVAC design tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selections, and models across project phases.
• Design HVAC systems per codes, energy standards, and best practices.
• Perform load analyses, duct/pipe sizing, and equipment selection with senior guidance.
• Prepare construction documents, schedules, layouts, and control narratives.
• Utilize CAD/BIM to create 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls teams.
• Support construction administration: review shop drawings, RFIs, and commissioning activities.
• Participate in project coordination meetings and knowledge sharing.
