Job summary

Actalent in Rochester, NY is seeking an HVAC / Mechanical Designer to prepare construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications for commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential projects. The role focuses on developing HVAC layouts, field verification, and coordinating with project teams to deliver high-quality design documents.

The candidate will draft using AutoCAD with Revit MEP, review drawings for accuracy, and support design updates through to permit and shop drawings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP design software.
• Understanding of HVAC and mechanical building systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with field coordination and site observations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed HVAC and mechanical system layouts using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Develop ductwork layouts, equipment schedules, and drawings.
• Ensure drawings meet codes and project deadlines.
• Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and contractors.
• Support site observations and address design questions.
• Create and review permit, construction and shop drawings.
• Interface with field personnel to resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with design updates and documentation revisions.
