Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions is seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic for on-site work in Fallon, Nevada.   • Five years of service/maintenance experience in HVAC, with systems 200 tons or larger.
  • Licensed in accordance with Florida state law unless under supervision of a licensed technician in Florida.

  • Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DBIDS/access to government installations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, boilers, and piping.
  • Oversee HVAC data accuracy in BUILDER SMS for system integrity.
  • Perform PMs per manufacturer recommendations and PMTLs for safe, efficient operation.
  • Maintain climate control and acceptability of building temperatures and humidity.
  • Transport, connect, and operate government-provided portable chillers as needed.

Position Location

This position is located onsite in Fallon, Nevada.

Job Overview

The HVAC Mechanic will provide the repair and maintenance of all heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems. The incumbent will provide the daily HVAC maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The HVAC Mechanic will receive and evaluate work orders and requests, investigate requests or problems where appropriate, and complete the necessary repairs.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs and modifies/upgrades HVAC system chillers, air handers, cooling towers, heating units, air conditioners, coils, condensers, boilers/water heaters, furnaces, piping, valves, control systems, etc. (this includes government provided portable chiller units). Additional requirements in AFI 32-1001, Civil Engineer Operations, will be followed.
  • Oversees HVAC functions of the BUILDER SMS data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • All HVAC preventive maintenance shall be accomplished in accordance with manufacture’s recommendations and/or PMTLs (whichever is more stringent), to ensure safe, functional, efficient, and reliable systems.
  • Maintains appropriate and consistent climate control throughout the base.
  • Ensures building temperatures and humidity are within specified ranges.
  • Transports, connects, and operates government provided portable chiller units as necessary.
  • Maintains a water treatment and corrosion control program to control scale, algae, slime, and corrosion on HVAC systems. The contractor shall document water analysis, quantity of chemical used, and corrective actions.
  • Cleans duct work as required to ensure system performance.
  • Performs duct work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience working in a service and maintenance position in the HVAC field, with experience with HVAC systems 200 tons or larger.
  • Licensed in accordance with Florida state law unless under the direct supervision of a technician having the appropriate licensure in accordance with Florida State law.
  • Carrier SER 28, SER 120, SER 130, SER 270, and SER 275 training courses.
  • Valid Universal CFC Certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of refrigeration, chillers, HVAC, pneumatics, steam, and condensate systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of National, State, and Local Building and HVAC Codes.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions.
  • Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Valid state Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
  • Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
Preferred:
  • Work experience supporting a military base or civilian installation.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
  • Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm, diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, dust odors, and elevated noise levels.
  • Tasks may be performed in uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted surfaces/floors, cement structures and surfaces.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use tools, equipment, chemicals, etc. to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment /tools as may be required for the position (computer, phone, copy machine, hand-held radio, etc.)
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and follow safe lifting procedures.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
  • May be required to enter confined spaces.
