Job description

NOW ELIGIBLE FOR A $7,000 SIGN ON BONUS!
To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.

Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Hot Water Supply, Plumbing, and Food Service Equipment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Performing special repairs and assignments received by work orders from authorized personnel.
  2. Identifying the cause of a problem; determining materials and tools needed and method of repair; and carrying out repair procedures independently on most jobs.
  3. Performing scheduled maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans.
  4. Training and/or supervising the work of offender helpers.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

About Richmond Correctional Institution: Richmond Correctional Institution is located in Hoffman, North Carolina, and houses up to 420 male offenders in a medium custody facility.

To qualify, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Working knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and/or equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

High school or GED diploma and three years of experience in installation, maintenance, or repair of air conditioning systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Current EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician as required by Title 40, CFR part 82, subpart F.
