William & Mary is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems across campus. The role includes hands-on work on boilers, hot water systems, and energy management controls, with a focus on safety and code compliance.

The position requires several years of HVAC experience, an EPA Refrigerant license, and a valid driver's license. The role is non-exempt with overtime opportunities and on-call duties as part of Facilities Management.

Responsibilities

  • 40% - Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, boiler, and hot water systems to high standards.
  • 35% - Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and document actions.
  • 10% - Oversee Energy Management Systems (EMCS) operations and maintenance.
  • 10% - Use work orders for documentation and timely corrective actions.

The Senior HVAC Mechanics are responsible for providing installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and equipment. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Independently performs maintenance and repairs and assists lower-level employees, training them as needed. Ensures preventive maintenance is performed as scheduled and is properly documented. Oversees the energy management control systems (EMCS). Utilizes the work order system for documentation and customer response cards.**Job Description:****Required Qualifications:*** High School graduate or equivalent.* Several years of experience in HVAC maintenance, repair, and installation including experience with pumps, motors & piping.* Experience with HVAC construction methods and codes.* Experience with troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC equipment.* Experience in interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.* Ability to climb ladders.* Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with supervisors, peers, and customers.* EPA Universal Refrigerant License.* Valid Driver’s license and two years of driving experience.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Virginia HVAC Journeyman or Master’s License.* Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS).**Conditions of Employment:*** This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed, and is subject to overtime.* Incumbents will be required to participate in the Facilities Management “on-call” program and duties will include on-call/standby on a rotating basis.* This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
