William & Mary is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems across campus. The role includes hands-on work on boilers, hot water systems, and energy management controls, with a focus on safety and code compliance.

The position requires several years of HVAC experience, an EPA Refrigerant license, and a valid driver's license. The role is non-exempt with overtime opportunities and on-call duties as part of Facilities Management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Several years of HVAC maintenance, repair, and installation experience including pumps, motors & piping.
• Experience with HVAC construction methods and codes.
• Experience with troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC equipment.
• Experience interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• 40% - Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, boiler, and hot water systems to high standards.
• 35% - Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and document actions.
• 10% - Oversee Energy Management Systems (EMCS) operations and maintenance.
• 10% - Use work orders for documentation and timely corrective actions.

Utilizes the work order system for documentation and customer response cards.**Job Description:****Required Qualifications:*** High School graduate or equivalent.* Several years of experience in HVAC maintenance, repair, and installation including experience with pumps, motors & piping.* Experience with HVAC construction methods and codes.* Experience with troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC equipment.* Experience in interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.* Ability to climb ladders.* Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with supervisors, peers, and customers.* EPA Universal Refrigerant License.* Valid Driver’s license and two years of driving experience.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Virginia HVAC Journeyman or Master’s License.* Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS).**Conditions of Employment:*** This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed, and is subject to overtime.* Incumbents will be required to participate in the Facilities Management “on-call” program and duties will include on-call/standby on a rotating basis.* This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
