General Information:

Job Type: Full-Time

Normal Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday

(Work days and hours are subject to change to meet the needs of the company)

Education & Experience
  • Preferred - 5 years trade experience
  • Preferred –Apprenticeship Program or other Trade Specific Training

  • Ability to pass drug screening(s)
  • Ability to pass background check, obtain security clearance and work on jobsites where minor children are present
  • Ability to prove U.S. employment eligibility and provide required documentation for same.

  • Able to work extended hours when necessary, nights and weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have own tools (tools of the trade)
  • Must have neat and professional appearance
ABILITY TO:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation (i.e. daily reports, sign-in sign-out sheets, Asbuilts etc.) pertaining the day to day operations of the project assigned
  • Operate specialized machinery, equipment and tools needed to complete trade specific work
  • Work independently with little direction
  • Meet schedules and timelines as specified by superiors and/ or customers
Primary Role

An HVAC Installer/ Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for installing heating and air conditioning equipment and sheet metal systems in commercial and industrial buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform regular quality control inspections to ensure work is done correctly.
  • Track/record as built changes daily on a dedicated set of drawings
  • Work in cooperation with other trades to ensure that all specifications are met
  • Ensure efficient completion of all job assignments.
  • Review blueprints, building codes or specifications to determine work details and requirements
  • Install heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration equipment as well as other products in accordance with company requirements and manufactures specifications
  • Inspect and test system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions
  • Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and water solution
  • Designs, fabricates and installs various ducts and duct fittings as required
  • Performs start up on air conditioning systems as needed
  • Connect heating or air conditioning equipment to fuel, water, or refrigerant source to form complete circuit.
  • Install, connect, or adjust thermostats, humidistats, or timers
  • Install auxiliary components to heating or cooling equipment, such as expansion or discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, or stokers.
  • Install and test automatic, programmable, or wireless thermostats in residential or commercial buildings to minimize energy usage for heating or cooling.
  • Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe or tubing
  • Assemble, set, and mount heating or cooling equipment, following blueprints or manufacturer's specifications.
  • Assemble mechanical components or machine parts.
Knowledge
  • Mechanical codes
  • Relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures installation and maintenance
  • Tools utilized to perform required duties and how to use said tools
Skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in same trade as well as other trades
  • Review and interpret technical information
  • Refrigerant handling and disposal
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/ or walking
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for grasping, squeezing, signaling and carrying
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to the weather, exposure to dust and other construction site types of conditions
Safety Requirements
  • Use safe work practices and promote safe practices.
  • Utilize proper PPE equipment and ensure all persons on jobsite are also utilizing same at all times
  • Comply with all safety requirements set forth by Comfort Systems and OSHA
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
  • Preferred - OSHA 10 Certificate
  • Preferred – Journeymen certification from an accredited school
  • Preferred – Valid Masters License issued by DPOR
  • Preferred – First Aid and CPR Training (Current)
  • Preferred – Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
