Job summary

Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM, is seeking an experienced HVAC/refrigeration technician to inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, and perform maintenance on kitchen equipment.

You will ensure safe, efficient operation and follow safety regulations, read schematics, and document logs. Minimum of three years' related experience and a high school diploma are required; heavy lifting and outdoor work are expected.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent certificate and a minimum of three years' experience directly related to the job duties.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math and interpret plans, drawings, schematics, and operation manuals.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and proper use of HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service heating, refrigeration, and ventilation units, including exhaust fans.
• Assist in installation and maintenance of chillers, chilled water systems, heating systems, and related components.
• Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair industrial kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Monitor temperatures and pressures to ensure proper operating levels.
• Operate hot water boilers, adjust gas burners, and recalibrate controls.
• Maintain logs of equipment operation, fuel consumption, and boiler performance.
