Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas seeks a full-time HVAC Journeyman in Fargo, ND, onsite. You will service commercial/industrial equipment, including chillers, rooftops, and water source systems, with mentoring responsibilities for apprentices.

Strong diagnostic and brazing skills are required, plus a valid license and union journeyman status. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, warranty service, customer education, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred).
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accepted as Journeyman by the union.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required.
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians.
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Service equipment including chillers, rooftop units, and air handling components; inspect systems and verify functionality.
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to prevent breakdowns.
• Diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment.
• Conduct warranty service inspections and testing.
• Educate customers on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
• Lead apprentices through hands‑on demonstrations during rebuilds and retrofits.
• Record billing, inventory, timecards, and related reports.
• Download programs into HVAC equipment and analyze chiller trend data for optimal performance.
• Participate in training programs and stay current with certifications.
• Maintain all required certifications and uphold safety standards.
• Complete jobsite hazard assessments prior to initiating service and follow safety policies.

Education

Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)

Location: Fargo, ND - Onsite

Your Responsibilities:

• Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment
• Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment
• Educate technical and non‑technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usage
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands‑on demonstration of the necessary steps
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off‑site learning modules
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Your Qualifications:

The expected hourly rate for this position is $48.00 in ND. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered. Benefits are provided through a local labor union and aligned to the CBA.
