Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas Inc. is seeking an HVAC Installer/Sheetmetal Mechanic/Technician II to install and pre-start up commercial equipment on onsite projects in Montgomery, AL. You will work on rooftop units, boilers, chillers, split systems and ductwork, reading blueprints and laying out mechanical rooms.

You will also run piping and conduit, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot to prevent issues. Training is provided, and OSHA safety rules apply throughout daily work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years related experience with increasing responsibility.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support as required.
• License(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Install new commercial HVAC equipment and related items such as chillers, boilers, split systems, air handlers, rooftops units and ductwork.
• Read blueprints and layout of mechanical rooms for new equipment installation.
• Run piping, ductwork, wire, conduit and pour concrete.
• Occasionally perform maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment including cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, belts and lubrication.
• Occasionally repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to system components.
• Identify potential problems to prevent breakdowns or callbacks.
• Direct Level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations of installation steps.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, and other required articles timely.
• Interact with customers by offering status reports during and after installation.
• Participate in training through regional trainers and Daikin Learning.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing and doing pre-startup tasks for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The responsibilities will increase based on exposure to tasks, ability to develop skill sets, and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. The HVAC equipment you will be installing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers.

What will you do:

• Install new commercial HVAC equipment and related items such as chillers, boilers, split systems, air handlers, rooftops units and ductwork.
• Read blueprints and layout of mechanical rooms for new equipment installation.
• Run piping, ductwork, wire, conduit and pour concrete.
• Occasionally perform maintenance on commercial HVAC equipment including, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication.
• Occasionally repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, chillers and condenser tubes.
• Occasionally maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks.
• Direct Level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations of all necessary steps to install equipment.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner.
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of the equipment installation, during, and after each job.
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning.
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld.
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commercial HVAC Industry Experience.
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification.

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $27.60 - $44.29 in Alabama. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
