Job summary

Midwestern Mechanical is hiring an HVAC Installation Apprentice (3rd or 4th Year) to learn the commercial installation trade while in a full-time paid position with on-the-job training from experienced journeymen and company-provided classes every two weeks.

The role involves installing sheet metal and spiral ducts, roof top units, and other HVAC equipment, with the goal of becoming a skilled Journeyman through the company program.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of HVAC experience in installation/repairs.
• Team oriented, competent and organized.
• Strong communication and basic computer skills.
• Strong basic math skills required.
• Above average problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to operate powered equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify problems or defects.
• Operate powered equipment and hand tools as required.
• Analyze information to determine best solutions and maintain high quality of work.
• Maintain initiative and complete assigned duties with accuracy.
• Test for leaks in new or repaired systems.
• Drive to job sites within the region with a valid driver’s license.
• Overnight travel within the region as needed.
• Maintain active state and city licenses in all jurisdictions of work.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY: HVAC Installation Apprentice (3rd or 4th Year)

The HVAC Installation Apprentice position allows you to learn the skills required of the commercial HVAC installation trade while working in a full-time paid employment position with on-the-job training from experienced HVAC journeymen as well as company-provided apprenticeship classes 1/2 day every 2 weeks.

The HVAC Installation Apprentice assists in commercial installation projects, installing sheet metal and spiral ducts, roof top units and other HVAC equipment. The Apprentice is also responsible for delivering high quality work and productivity, and is expected to go through the company-provided apprenticeship training program to become a skilled HVAC Journeyman.

Required Skills:

1. Minimum of 2 years of HVAC experience required. Previously worked with an HVAC company doing installation and repairs of HVAC equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Inspects equipment, structures or materials to identify problems or defects.
2. Operates powered equipment including hand tools, stationary machines and others as required.
3. Makes decisions and solves problems analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution.
4. Maintains a high quality initiative while completing assigned duties.
5. Tests for leaks in new and repaired systems.
6. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a current driver's license to commute to job sites in the region.
7. Overnight travel as necessary within the region.
8. Maintain an active state and city license in all city/states you will perform work in.

Education and Experience:

1. Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Field experience in construction, HVAC or similar field is a plus
