What you will do
The Johnson Controls Global Center of Excellence team offers pre-sales system and project development engineering services for diverse projects and clients across regions. We develop and deliver innovative building, business, and vertical market solutions, emphasizing a consultative, service-oriented approach and disciplined engineering processes. The HVAC Equipment Front Desk Engineer plays a vital role in our growth strategy, supporting HVAC projects across North America. This is a virtual role, requiring residence within the United States.
Serve as a technical advisor and client-facing contact during the sales process, collaborating with prospects, customers, and sales teams.
Coordinate with internal departments, sales, operations, and service managers within the region.
Participate in customer calls, support demo presentations, and assist with code-related inquiries.
Analyze sales pipelines, help develop strategies, and leverage GCOE to differentiate Johnson Controls from competitors.
Drive GCOE results, facilitate cross-sales, and manage KPIs and metrics for the line of business.
Provide technical support to sales, collaborate with suppliers and procurement, and ensure quality in field installations.
Maintain high-quality design functionality, monitor KPIs, and ensure team capabilities align with sales goals.
How you will do it
Lead pre-sales development for HVAC Equipment, supporting sales teams nationwide. Projects include new construction, retrofits, and design-build opportunities.
Apply methodologies for solution design, scope, and cost estimation, providing input for opportunity prioritization and qualification.
Support HVAC equipment sales with system application support, using tools like Solution Navigator, engineering designs, and materials lists.
Handle pre-sales design, cost estimation, applications engineering, product selection, specifications, proposals, and value engineering to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
Identify and resolve specification issues, develop scope and estimates, and understand customer needs.
Follow project development processes and utilize standard tools and software.
Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to assess product strengths and weaknesses.
Evaluate value-engineering options for HVAC systems.
Participate in turnover meetings with project managers, ensuring technical solutions are clearly communicated and documented.
What we look for
Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology.
Strong computer and analytical skills.
Experience in JCI installation operations as an Application Engineer or in installation sales is preferred.
Five to seven years of HVAC equipment sales or operations experience.
