Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Designer, HVAC to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

This full-time role focuses on HVAC design and 3D modeling for multi-discipline projects. You will work with Revit, Smart Plant, and Trane Trace to develop and verify technical drawings and operating documents, coordinating with engineering and operations staff to ensure accuracy prior to release.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HVAC or Fire Protection with 2+ years in HVAC/Fire Sprinkler design.
• U.S. citizenship required due to federal work.
• Ability to obtain government clearance.
• 5+ years of HVAC design and 3D modeling experience.
• Experience with Revit and Smart Plant is a plus.
• Experience with point clouds and multi-discipline 3D modeling.
• Familiarity with Trane Trace (or similar programs).
• Strong knowledge of related engineering systems and construction methods.
• Ability to plan, self-perform, multi-task and coordinate document validation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Mechanical Designer, HVAC to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Experience in HVAC Design and 3D Modeling.
• Knowledge of related engineering systems, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
• Plan, self-perform tasks, and multi-task on multiple projects.
• Present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word and utilize automated workflow systems.
• Coordinate verification and validation of documents with technical and operations personnel prior to release for approval and implementation.
• Develop and maintain historical information.
• Prepare, interpret, maintain, and incorporate requirements of technical drawings and operating documents.

Requirements

• Education & Years of Experience – Associate Degree in related discipline (HVAC or Fire Protection) with two or more years of progressive and relevant experience in HVAC and/or Fire Sprinkler System Design.
• Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
• Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium.
