  • Knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation requirements, ductwork design, and piping-system design.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems and associated controls based on project specifications, building requirements, and customer needs.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations to determine appropriate system capacities and equipment requirements.
  • Calculate ventilation and airflow requirements in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications.
  • Select and size HVAC equipment, including air-handling units, rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, fans, and related components.
  • Design ductwork, piping, ventilation, and mechanical-system layouts.
  • Prepare and revise HVAC plans, schematics, details, schedules, and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, construction plans, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire-protection systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients throughout the design and construction process.
  • Develop equipment specifications, material requirements, and detailed project cost estimates.
  • Review equipment submittals, shop drawings, and product data to confirm compliance with design requirements.
  • Identify design conflicts and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Respond to requests for information and provide technical support during construction.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, and field inspections as required.
  • Ensure HVAC designs comply with applicable building codes, energy codes, ventilation standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate design documentation and complete assigned projects within established schedules and budgets.

We are seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to design and develop heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems for commercial and residential construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, or multifamily properties.
  • Familiarity with applicable ASHRAE standards and mechanical and energy codes.
  • Experience with HVAC load-calculation or energy-modeling software.Experience reviewing equipment submittals and supporting projects during construction.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or progress toward professional engineering licensure is a plus.
