Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Controls Technician to service HVAC and Building Management Systems (BMS).

The role involves completing service calls and supporting larger projects under the supervision of a project manager or controls engineer, with deployment across multiple job sites in the Roanoke area. Qualified candidates will have 3+ years in the controls field, a relevant diploma, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Controls, Instrumentation, Electronics or equivalent
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Able to report to multiple job sites as assigned
• Must adhere to company policy and procedures
• Able to read control specifications and diagrams

Summary/Objective:

The Controls Technician for Building Management Systems (BMS) and Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems will be responsible for completing service calls in addition to working on larger projects under the direction of a project manager or controls engineer.

Essential Functions:

• Install DDC (Direct Digital Control) controllers
• Read & review control specifications and diagrams
• Assist with wiring and installation of unit accessories
• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

No

Required:

• 3+ years of experience in the controls field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• Controls Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Electronics Technician or similar diploma obtained from an accredited educational institution or meet the equivalent requirements as established by Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT)
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
• Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment:

• May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
• May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands:

• This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
• While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Travel:

• May require travel

Preferred:

• Prior military experience
• Previous experience with Alerton controls
• Previous experience with DDC, PLC or similar Ladder-Logic programming
• Previous experience with Microsoft Visio
