Job summary

Evergreen Talent Partners is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman – Chiller Mechanic to service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems across the New York/New Jersey area. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of field experience with chillers and HVAC equipment and can work from modern factory training programs.

You will handle installation, maintenance, and on-call service, mentor apprentices, and ensure safety compliance while delivering top-tier system reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman status through local union required.
• 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
• Strong experience servicing commercial chillers and HVAC equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with pipefitting and brazing.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to participate in an emergency on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment.
• Service chillers, AHUs, RTUs, fan coils, cooling towers, boilers, water-source heat pumps.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to identify issues.
• Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Complete pipefitting, brazing, and component replacements.
• Complete warranty service, equipment testing, and verification.
• Assist with rebuilds, retrofits, and major overhauls.
• Analyze controller programs and chiller data to optimize performance.
• Mentor apprentices and provide technical guidance in the field.
• Prepare service documentation, time reporting, inventory tracking, and work orders.
• Follow OSHA regulations and safety procedures; maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in on-call rotations and ongoing training.

We are partnering with a global leader in commercial HVAC solutions seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman – Chiller Mechanic to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems throughout the New York / New Jersey area.

This role is ideal for experienced union journeymen with a strong background in chillers and commercial HVAC equipment who are looking to work with advanced technology while receiving ongoing factory training and long-term career development.

• Troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical system issues independently.
• Perform pipefitting, brazing, component replacements, and equipment repairs.
• Complete warranty service, equipment testing, and operational verification.
• Assist with rebuilds, retrofits, and major equipment overhauls.
• Download and analyze controller programs and chiller operating data to optimize system performance.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and provide technical guidance in the field.
• Complete service documentation, time reporting, inventory tracking, and work orders accurately.
• Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures while maintaining a safe, organized work environment.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and ongoing technical training.
