Sarasota County is seeking an on-site Facilities Technician to assist Skilled Trades II staff with HVAC, Life Safety, and general maintenance across County facilities. You will perform preventive maintenance, assist with repairs, and work directly with vendors servicing critical systems, contributing to safe and efficient buildings.
The role offers regular day hours, on-call rotation for emergencies, and comprehensive benefits. A valid Florida Driver's License and HVAC experience are required.

Assist Skilled Trades II workers or Compliance/Technical Maintenance Specialists with repairs/maintenance to different building systems including HVAC, Life Safety, and other general maintenance items Perform preventive maintenance checks and services on assigned or designated equipment and systems Maintain and investigate minor repairs of multiple building systems in support of, or with, Skilled Trades II workers, or as assigned by Supervisor.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. *Participates in on-call rotation for any emergencies (with emergencies typically only occurring 2-3 times per year)
Provided with this position: Tools, full uniform, steel-toed shoes, all necessary safety equipment (PPE), County-issued phone, County-issued vehicle, and a laptop while at work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
CJIS Clearance: **The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Starting Pay: $20.10 (Step 1) Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
