Job summary

Jetson in San Jose, CA seeks HVAC apprentices to join our fast-growing, mission-driven team constructing heat pump systems for residential projects. You will learn from seasoned installers, remove gas furnaces, and install heat pumps while contributing ideas to improve products and processes.

You should have 6–12 months in HVAC training or 1–2 years related work, EPA Type II or Universal Certification, and a valid driver's license. This is a full-time, in-person role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of an HVAC program (6–12 months) or equivalent hands-on work experience.
• EPA Type II or Universal Certification is required.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license is required.
• Familiarity with blueprints, schematics and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Install heat pump systems alongside experienced installers.
• Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning/replacing filters.
• Test HVAC systems for proper functionality.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, and building codes during installs or repairs.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineering teams on product/process improvements.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns.

The Opportunity

We are looking for extremely motivated and passionate HVAC apprentices who would like to be a part of an exciting new company fighting climate change through disrupting the residential HVAC industry. You will bring your classroom experience, combined with hands on experience and work with our seasoned crew to build your skills. The bulk of the work would include removing gas furnaces and installing heat pump systems. Your input on how the product can be improved and the install process streamlined would be expected.

What You're Going to Do

• Install new heat pump systems alongside experienced Installers


• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and replacing filters


• Test HVAC systems to ensure proper functionality


• Follow blueprints, schematics, and building codes when installing or repairing systems


• Collaborate with other technicians and engineering teams on the product and processes


• Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and questions

What You Bring

• Completion of (6 - 12 months) of a recognized HVAC program or combination of program work and 1 - 2 years of related equivalent work experience


• EPA Type II or Universal Certification (required)


• Valid (unrestricted) Drivers License


• Hands on experience related to HVAC system install or service preferred


• Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems


• Familiarity with blueprints and schematics


• Familiarity with building codes and regulations


• Excellent problem-solving skills


• Strong desire to learn best practices in a team environment


• Physical stamina to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions


• Experience with modern tools, including AI, to automate and make your day more efficient.


• Follows OSHA Electrical Standard


• Follows the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) standard

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
