Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas Inc. seeks a full-time 3rd Year HVAC Apprentice in Maple Grove, MN. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment, working alongside Journeymen and Foremen, with a company vehicle provided for site visits.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and HVAC certification or equivalent. You will participate in training, maintain safety protocols, and develop skills across rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and air handling systems.

• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial/industrial HVAC equipment.
• Assist in servicing equipment including rooftop units, water source heat pumps, AHUs, chillers and boilers.
• Drive company vehicle to job sites and manage tool/inventory transport.
• Record billing, timecards, and reports promptly.
• Explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. What you will do:

• Perform and assist in service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Perform and assist in the rebuilding of an HVAC unit.
• Receive detailed direction while sharing the hands‑on task responsibilities with Journeyman and Foreman
• Drive a company vehicle to and from jobsite.
• Transport and maintain inventory of hand tools and necessary materials for job completion
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, and word processing programs
• Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call
• Explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off‑site learning modules
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:

• Accepted as 3rd year Apprentice by the union
• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Member of local union or willing to join the union
• Commercial HVAC Industry Experience
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card

The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
